Herkömmliche Zugänge eignen sich nur vereinzelt zur Gewinnung bildungsbenachteiligter Älterer für Weiterbildung, stattdessen sind bspw. enge Kontakte zu MultiplikatorInnen erforderlich. Dies zeigt eine explorative Untersuchung zur Weiterbildungssituation älterer Menschen in Stadtteilen, in denen viele Menschen mit niedrigem Bildungsstand wohnen.

English Abstract

In the present article, the analysis of the educational activity of older people is linked to the question of belonging to a social space and the resources or constraints that arise on a local level for education in old age. Previously applied only occasionally in adult education, the research approach oriented toward social space promises to improve understanding of local inclusion and exclusion processes in lifelong learning. The article presents the first results from an explorative project investigating the local educational activity of older people that was conducted by the German Institute for Adult Education (Deutsches Institut für Erwachsenenbildung – DIE in German) in the programme "Inklusion/ Lernen im Quartier" (Social Inclusion/Learning in Social Spaces).
