English Abstract

The present article draws the reader's attention to one core task of didactic action that has almost vanished from the didactic discourse: the mediation between topic and learners. Isn't it inevitable that neglect of the connection between content and adult learners leads to a loss of importance for the profession? A careful and well-supported survey of the past and present traces the disappearance of this cornerstone of didactic action and the words of a number of scientists are carefully examined. Constructivist approaches (enabling didactics, didactics of appropriation) are critically reviewed and the significance of the content of transformation processes is revaluated. Finally, the article considers a stronger orientation towards content, a "new contentuality", and argues that content and the mediated dealing with content must become core elements of didactic action (again). Moreover, didactically relevant interaction between content-related and methodology-/media-related aspects are necessary and the didactics of adult education needs a segment that is oriented towards content.
